DIG THE LINE, Kyoto: European beer bar at ShinPuhKan

DIG THE LINE (or DIG THE LINE BOTTLE & BAR) is a stylish European beer bar at Kyoto’s most arty shopping mall ‘ShinPuhKan (新風館)‘. Here’s what it looks like.

DIG THE LINE must be heaven for craft beer lovers. One can stop by DIG THE LINE’s shop for craft beer cans which are mainly from Scandinavia and France. It’s like Kyoto’s little NATO, with good beers.

DIG THE LINE’s stylish dining room with wooden slats on a gray counter highlighted with linear light remains a Japanese izakaya vibe. Across the counter is a DJ turntable that explains their unconventional soul. All in all, DIG THE LINE is a beautiful, contemporary fusion eatery, which is very ShinPuhKan-like.

DIG THE LINE’s falafel burger. 1000 yen ($7.70).

DIG THE LINE’s menu offers international comfort food with a Japanese twist. I totally digged in their hamburger named ‘DIG Burger’. Their ‘Falafel Burger’ was also good. The falafel patty tasted authentic as a Middle Eastern/Mediterranean falafel. Then a Swedish fare arrived. Nobody was against it. Everything was in harmony.

My Swedish beer. Skål!
