Tojinbo Cliffs, or just simply Tojinbo (東尋坊), is one of Fukui’s most popular tourist destinations. It’s also one of the Natural monuments of Japan (天然記念物) which includes Mount Fuji (富士山), Naruto whirlpool (鳴門の渦潮), and more. Sadly, Tojinbo Cliffs is also known as a suicide spot (like Logan Paul-visited Aokigahara/青木ヶ原 forest near Mount Fuji). Or it’s just simply dangerous.

A sign says “Texting while walking is DANGEROUS, especially on the cliff.”
IWABA CAFE, which means “rocky place cafe” in Japanese, is on the safe ground at Tojinbo Cliffs overlooking the bleak yet beautiful Sea of Japan (日本海). In other words, it’s an Instagrammable cafe with a stunning view.

Inside IWABA CAFE has a modern and laid-back vibe with shabby chic interiors. Nothing prevented me from stopping by for a coffee even though I wasn’t dying for one. IWABA CAFE’s menu shows a classic repertoire as a down-to-earth Japanese cafe. Handmade cakes, hamburgers, pizzas, soft drinks, alcohol, and of course coffee were on offer.

“Soy latte (ソイラテ)”. 650 yen ($5).
IWABA CAFE has a Japanese “do-it-right” vibe which I adore. Handwritten captions for the handmade cakes are one. I assume it’s called love. IWABA CAFE seems to be designed to savor Tojinbo Cliffs’s killer view. It’s more than just an Instagrammable cafe.
