Daimaru Kyoto
Daimaru Kyoto(大丸京都店) is a Kyoto location of a Japanese department chain Daimaru (大丸) founded in Fushimi, Kyoto in 1717. On September 29, 2023, Daimaru Kyoto opened a new restaurant floor (a floor with restaurants) on its 8th floor.
Manga library (Manga No Kabe / まんがの壁)
A free manga library Manga No Kabe (まんがの壁: manga wall) is located on the 8th floor at Daimaru Kyoto (大丸京都店).
With its concept “reading restaurant (読むレストラン)”, Manga No Kabe offers nearly 3000 Japanese mangas on food.
Visitors can read all the mangas for free in a modern interior equipped with furniture made with wood from Kyoto’s Keihokucho (京北町) which is famous for Kitayama cedar (北山杉).
Below are all the books at Manga No Kabe.
Visitors are allowed to take the mangas out to the rooftop on the same floor but not to the restaurants. The mangas are neither for sale nor for borrow. No admission is needed.
