Inspired by Walden; or, Life in the Woods written by Henry David Thoreau from Concord, Massachusetts, Walden Woods Kyoto was born in 2017. Things are wicked good, and white.

Walden Woods Kyoto is one of the most famous cafes in Kyoto. Very instagrammable. This renovated Taisho-era (大正時代) building cafe tries to express the soul of Walden; or, Life in the Woods written by Henry David Thoreau. Walden Woods Kyoto is where humble America and glorified Kyoto meet. It’s otherworldly, for sure.
Walden Woods Kyoto offers various sweets such as tiny bakeries, matcha soft serves, matcha French canelés, and more. This is something you can’t expect at a cafe in Massachusetts. Poor, Henry. Welcome to Kyoto.

A coffee break at Henry David Thoreau’s cabin might not be very fancy, but the food and drink at Walden Woods Kyoto were. Everything was pristine clean and flawless here, as one does in Kyoto. I had a feeling I was not in Concord anymore…
